Driffield travelled to Blaydon to play them on the RFU’s artificial pitch, which Driffield rarely get to play on.

Blaydon opened their account after just six minutes with a try, unconverted.  B 5-0 D

On 18 minutes, skipper Brankley levelled the score with a try, unconverted.  B 5-5 D

This was followed five minutes later by a penalty by Grant to give Driffield an 8-5 lead.  B 5-8 D

Blaydon responded straight away and ran in a unconverted try just two minutes later to regain the lead.  B 10-8 D

In the last minute of the half, they increased their lead with another try, giving them a seven point lead at the half.  B 15-8 D

HALF TIME

Blaydon came straight back out in the second half with another try, unconverted once more.  B 20-8 D

Five minutes later, Grant scored a try for Driffield, and converted it, to narrow the gap.  B 20-15 D

Robinson levelled the scores on 55 minutes with a try, converted by Grant to give them a two point lead.  B 20-22 D

Ten minutes later, Blaydon snatched the lead back with a try by former Driffield player Jenkinson, once again unconverted.  B 25-22 D

With ten minutes to go, Grant levelled the scorers at 25 apiece, with a penalty.  B 25-25 D

But, to the disappointment of the Driffield contingent, Blaydon scored another unconverted try with the last move of the game to snatch the win.  B 30-25 D
