We welcome York RUFC to Kelleythorpe this weekend, both 1st and 2nd Vs playing host.

Another tough test for our 1st XV as they host 2nd place York RUFC in Regional 1 North East. York are on the same points (16) as leaders Harrogate, separated by points difference only.  Driffield are one point and one place behind on 15 points and third position.

Like us, York lost their opening fixture of the season : at Alnwick, losing 19-16.  Since then, they have beaten a travelling Blaydon 38-24, won at Cleckheaton 10-30 and, last weekend, beat Doncaster Phoenix at York 29-10.

Last season, York finished sixth in the league, winning 12 whilst losing 10.  We managed to do the double over York last season : we won 29-27 at Kelleythorpe and 19-24 at York.  York held the lead in both games, but Driffield never gave up and scored late on both occasions to take the points.

Driffield produced a great performance last weekend when they won 8-28 at newly-promoted Pontefract.  Driffield held a 21 – 3 HT Lead, then scored early in the second half to claim a try bonus point.  Pontefract managed to score late on, but the game had already been won by that point.

We once again have a bit of change about in the squad.  Rix starts in the centre, with Brankley returning to the back row.  Robinson starts on the wing, with Short taking his turn on the bench.  In the forwards, Henry Hughes moves to the bench with Brankley returning.  Robson joins Short and Hughes on the bench.

2nd XV also face York in their league.
