Following the RFU decision to cancel competitions for our level of rugby, the Coast and Wolds Rugby Group formed to develop a local cluster of clubs to play 1st XV games when conditions permit. The six clubs involved are : Beverley, Bridlington, Driffield, Malton & Norton, Pocklington and Scarborough. You can see more at https://www.coastandwoldsrugby.co.uk/
All six clubs will play each other both home and away. Subject to any changes in government and RFU guidance, fixtures will start on 6 March and continue every weekend except Easter – the full list of fixtures is on the website. We are also discussing regarding ‘curtain raisers’ using the same fixture list for our Under 16s and other junior teams.
We are looking to develop a cluster for 2nd XV fixtures, which is likely to involve different clubs.
We also propose to arrange for our 3rd and 4th XVs to play reciprocal fixtures with the Coast and Wolds cluster on the same dates.
We still do not know what social facilities we will be able to provide once those games start, but hope to be able to open the bar, at least. We are hopeful that, if the spread of the virus can be contained in the coming months, we may be able to offer pre-match lunches for our 1st XV games. We are also looking at the possibility of hot food outdoors – a hog roast perhaps ? We will keep you updated on developments.
